Junior members that are 16 years of age and older, with the permission from their parents and the chief of the department, may
start their emergency service training through the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute at no cost to the them. This training
may include firefighter 1, first responder, or emergency medical technician. If a junior member successfully completes
any of the courses mentioned, they will have completed the training requirements to become a member of the senior
department before actually becoming a senior department member.
Any member of the junior department that attends the Center for Career and Technical Education may be eligble to complete
this training while attending their regular high school classes.
Any junior member will be excepted into the senior department when the individual becomes 18 years of age. The
junior member will be required to submit an application, pay the membership fee, and be cleared by the standing comittee for
membership after a simple background investigation.
