The junior fire departmnet is for anyone ages 11-18 that live within the fire district and have an interest in emergency services, whether it be fire, rescue, or emergency medical services.

Members of the junior hold their own meetings, hold their own training, and hold their own drills with supervision by the assigned advisors from the senior department.  At times the juniors are also allowed to participate in senior department drills and training.  The juniors are also allowed to participate in parades with permission from their parents and the senior advisors.

Junior members are told about the importance of the emergency services and prevention methods that can help them be more prepared to enter the emergency services training programs.  Junior members are also allowed to recieved training in first aid and CPR.  Junior members are also allowed to help out with the Smokey Bear program that is offered by the Maryland DNR.

Junior members that are 16 years of age and older, with the permission from their parents and the chief of the department, may start their emergency service training through the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute at no cost to the them.  This training may include firefighter 1, first responder, or emergency medical technician.  If a junior member successfully completes any of the courses mentioned, they will have completed the training requirements to become a member of the senior department before actually becoming a senior department member.

Any member of the junior department that attends the Center for Career and Technical Education may be eligble to complete this training while attending their regular high school classes.

Any junior member will be excepted into the senior department when the individual becomes 18 years of age.  The junior member will be required to submit an application, pay the membership fee, and be cleared by the standing comittee for membership after a simple background investigation.

If anyone is interested in joining the junior fire department, please contact any member of the senior department for more information.
